PART 1 | Chapter 6 | The Guilt Trap
Guilt deserves its own special section.
If ever there was an overused emotion, guilt is it.
Ok, it’s not entirely pointless. Let’s be fair to guilt. It does serve a function. It’s there to keep us from doing REALLY BAD THINGS, to help us reflect and learn to do better next time. Without guilt we become sociopaths, psychopaths, narcissists and dictatorial, emotionally incompetent leaders, and I’m really not suggesting that’s the way for you to go.
However. If you’re someone who experiences guilt on an all-too-regular basis, that tells me one great thing about you; you’re unlikely to be capable of being the kind of person who really needs or deserves to feel all that guilty.
